The 97th Michigan Amateur is scheduled for June 17-21 at The Moors Golf Club in Portage. The Golf Association of Michigan runs 12 qualifying sites around the state prior to the championship in an effort to make the state championship more accessible to the amateur golf community of Michigan. Last years championship saw Ryan Brehm of Mt. Pleasant defeat Steven Cuzzort of Grosse Ile, 2 and 1 in the final match. After a grueling week of golf that included 36 holes of stroke play and 6 matches to follow Brehm will hold the title until a new champion is crowned at The Moors in June. Registration for the event closes April 21st.
