Championship Field Player Information
This correspondence will verify your entry for the 103rd Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship at Spring Lake Country Club on Monday, August 5 through Friday, August 9, 2019.  

Please note your starting time and starting tee assignment from the enclosed pairing sheets. You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

TOURNAMENT DATE: Monday, August 5 – Friday, August 9 

DIRECTIONS: Take US-31 to the MI-104 exit. Go E on M-104 to Fruitport Rd. Go N ½ mile to club.

CLUB ADDRESS:  17496 Fruitport Rd. Spring Lake, MI 49456

LODGING:   A group block has been reserved at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Muskegon. The group rate is $139/night. The block is under the name "GAM". Call (231) 799-8333 to make a reservation. The drop-dead date for the rate is July 3.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability, (616) 850-1153.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Women’s Amateur contestants.

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: The following Rule applies to players. In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 4.3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

GAM DRESS CODE:  Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars.  Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted.  Players and caddies are expected to adhere to the dress code.

FOOD:  Lunch will be provided for the players after the first round on Monday, August 5th.

CADDIES/CARTS:  All players are required to walk. Contestants may carry their own bag, use a push cart, or use a caddy. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart, is submitted to the GAM at least two days prior to the competition. PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players on the day of the competition, prior to play only.  Range will open one hour before the first tee time. 

WITHDRAWAL:  If you have to withdraw, please notify the GAM by e-mailing tournamententry@gam.org. If you must withdraw within 24 hours of the competition, please contact the GAM office at (248) 478-9242 ext. 124. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions. Refunds will be issued if the GAM office is notified prior to the close of entries for that competition. After the entry deadline, fees will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness (with a verified doctor's note). There is a $20 processing fee applied to all refunds. 

SWEET 16 DINNER: Players who reach the Sweet 16 (win one match on Wednesday) are requested to attend the Sweet Sixteen Dinner in their honor on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Spring Lake CC. The reception will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 6:00 p.m. All Michigan Women's Amateur contestants and guests are welcome to attend. Players are entitled to one guest and all other guests will be charged a fee of $25 per person. Any player who advances to the Sweet 16 will be a guest of the GAM.  Dressy attire!!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

STROKE PLAY – 36-hole stroke-play qualifying to determine 32 players for match play.  

Monday, August 5 - First round, 18 holes, stroke play. Lunch will be provided to players following the round.

Tuesday, August 6 - Second round, 18 holes, stroke play.  Should there be a tie for final qualifying spots, a
sudden-death playoff shall start immediately after all scores have been posted. 

MATCH PLAY – USGA General numerical draw shall be used.  The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as necessary for the match to be won. 

Wednesday, August 7: Round of 32, 18 holes. Tee times run 8:00 – 10:15 a.m.

Thursday, August 8:

AM – Round of 16, 18 holes. Tee times run 8:00 – 9:10 a.m.
PM – Round of 8, 18 holes

Friday, August 9:

AM – Semifinal matches, 18 holes. Tee times begin at 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. 
PM – Final Match, 18 holes starting between 12:30-1:00 p.m.
