Congratulations! This correspondence verifies your qualifying into the 39th Michigan Junior State Amateur Championship at Eagle Eye GC in East Lansing/Bath, Michigan, on Monday, July 31 through Thursday, August 3, 2017.

Monday, July 31 – 36 holes, stroke play; the low 32 players will proceed to match play. A tie for the medalist honors as well as the 32nd spot, shall be decided immediately after the completion of the 2nd round by a hole-by-hole playoff.

Note:  If a player qualifies and is unable to compete in the Match Play Championship, he must notify the Committee immediately so that the next eligible player may be included.

Match Play: The stipulated round shall be extended to as many holes as required for a match to be won. General numerical USGA draw shall be used.

Tuesday, August 1  
AM - First round match play, 18 holes

Wednesday, August 2
AM – Second round match play, 18 holes
PM – Quarterfinal Matches, 18 holes

Thursday, August 3  
AM – Semifinal round, 18 holes
PM – Final round, 18 holes

Please note your starting time and starting tee assignment from the enclosed pairing sheets. You should arrive at your assigned tee at least ten (10) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for instructions from the starter.

Note:  Should there be a need to adjust second-round starting times, players will be notified when they return their first-round scorecards.  Be sure to confirm your afternoon starting time before leaving the scoring area.

CHAMPIONSHIP YARDAGE: Available @, under Tournaments / GAM Championships / Michigan Junior State Amateur Championship – Course Setup. 

MATCH-PLAY PAIRINGS:  Will be available via and via phone.

DIRECTIONS:  Take I-96 to 127 N to the Lake Lansing Road exit. Go E 1.2 miles to Abbott/Chandler Road. Go left (N) 2.5 miles to Eagle Eye on the left.

PRACTICE ROUND:  Please contact the golf shop for rates and availability,(517) 641-4570.  Contestants must call in advance to reserve a tee time and identify themselves as Michigan Junior State Amateur contestants.

GPS AND RANGE FINDERS: In this competition, if a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his/her play, AND USES IT FOR THOSE OTHER CONDITIONS the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is TWO STROKES for the first breach of this rule and DISQUALIFICATION for a subsequent breach during the stipulated round.

CADDIES/CARTS: No caddies are allowed during any phase of the Championship.  All players are required to walk.  Contestants may carry their own bag.  Push carts will be allowed for the championship. Spectator carts are only permitted if a request, accompanied by a doctor’s note confirming the spectator’s need for a cart or a Handicap Placard, is submitted to the GAM. FOOD:  Each player will receive a $25 gift card to use for food purchases during the course of the tournament.  

GAM DRESS CODE: Shirts with collars and sleeves are required; however women may wear collarless shirts with sleeves or sleeveless shirts with collars. Neither tank tops, tee shirts, short shorts, gym shorts, cut-offs, bathing suits nor denim pants/shorts are permitted. Players are expected to adhere to the dress code. 

PRACTICE RANGE: Complimentary for players prior to play on the days of the competition.  The range will be open 1 hour prior to the first tee time of each day.

PLAYOFF:  In case of ties for the final spots into the match play, there will be a sudden death playoff. Also in the case of a tie for the Medalist in stroke play, there will be a sudden death playoff. 

WITHDRAWAL: If you must withdraw, contact the GAM office at and mention your name and the site from which you are withdrawing. Failure to notify may result in suspension from future GAM competitions.
