GRAND BLANC – Warwick
Hills Golf and Country Club, which hosted the PGA TOUR’s Buick Open for 44
years and recently announced it will host a PGA Champions Tour event in
September of 2018, will host the 7th GAM Senior Tournament of Champions
presented by Global Golf Post Wednesday.
A field of 81 men
and women golfers who have won their GAM member-club championship or a GAM
Senior Championship this year will compete in 18 holes of stroke play. A male
and female champion will be determined. The senior men are over age 55 and the
senior women over age 50.
Warwick has hosted
many GAM tournaments over the years. During its run as host of the Buick Open, the
course was considered by players to be one of the best conditioned courses on
tour. Among the Buick Open winners were:
Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, Justin Leonard, Ben Crenshaw, Hale Irwin, Tom
Weiskopf, Lanny Wadkins, Billy Casper and Michigan’s own Dave Hill.
Warwick Hills is a
Joe Lee design that can be played from four sets of tees and a yardage range of
7,122 yards to 5,142 yards.
Ed Noroian is the
general manager, Doug Brody the head golf professional, Chris Caslmon the golf
services manager and Phil Owen is the superintendent.

Both defending
champions, Mike Tungate of East Lansing, and Terry Delcamp of Grand Blanc, are
in the field.
Also playing are
both 2015 winners Ian Harris of Bloomfield Hills and Donna Benford of Linden,
the 2014 winners Randy Lewis of Alma and Barb Schmid of Grand Rapids, 2013 women’s
winner Melanie Lewis of Alma and 2011 men’s winner John Richart of Ann Arbor.
