GRAND RAPIDS – Dozens
of golfers became Golf Association of Michigan members or renewed their
membership for 2018 at the West Michigan Golf Show last weekend.
The GAM was a primary
sponsor of the popular show at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids once again.
It was the 30th annual edition of the show
which featured hundreds of exhibits from golf courses, resorts and golf
equipment vendors, as well as on-stage clinics and talks.
Michigan Golf Hall
of Fame and World Golf Hall of Fame member Meg Mallon, a Michigan native and
former Michigan Women’s Amateur champion was the headliner.
The GAM will also
have a booth in March at the Michigan Golf Show at Suburban Collection
Showplace in Novi where golfers can renew memberships or start a membership
anew.
Benefits of membership include:
A GAM/USGA Handicap
Index because you can track your golf scores via posting 9 and 18-hole scores
on your mobile phone or any other device.
Finding a golf
course to play those 9 and 18-hole rounds will be easier because you receive
the Michigan Links Golf Directory, a comprehensive magazine that lists all of
the golf courses in Michigan with contact information and more. It’s super and
you can even find out who the superintendent is if needed.
Members can also
simply show the shiny golf 2018 GAM Golf Card at over 200 Michigan golf courses
and receive Swing and Save discounts, including some 2-for-1 offers.
Perhaps the best
benefit for the regular guy or gal golfer is the ability to play in “GAM Golf
Days.” These are casual golf events at select private, public and resort
courses in the state at special prices, including many at just $60. It’s a
great way to meet other golfers, as well as take on some of those places you
never thought you would get invited to play. The GAM Golf Card is your
invitation.
Membership keeps on
giving with members having the chance to enter contests to win free golf trips
and golf prizes.
Tournaments,
tournaments, tournaments and not just for the elite golfers though the GAM does
present the prestigious Michigan Amateur Championship and the Women’s Michigan
Amateur Championship. Tournaments are presented for women, men, girls and boys
of all ages. They include Net events and even the popular GAM Scramble for
great fun.
Here’s how: Find us
