The Orchards Golf Club Hosting GAM Net Championship

  WASHINGTON – The Orchards
Golf Club is a public venue and cornerstone of a 525-acre residential and golf
community, and it features a classic Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that has
played host to three Michigan Open Championships and a U.S. Public Links
Championship.

  It will host the 4th
GAM Net Chapman, a unique partner event, presented by Michigan Golf Live
Thursday.

  The Orchards opened
in 1993 with a state-of-the-art practice center and the modern Jones design
that received awards and accolades. It has remained one of the top public
venues in Michigan. The USGA chose it as a site for the U.S. Public Links in
2002, which was won by Ryan Moore, a top player on the PGA Tour. The Michigan
PGA administered the Michigan Open at the club from 2011 to 2013.

  The club and
community are mourning the recent passing of founder Ronald K. Darby, who as
president guided the facility in presenting a great golf experience. Jeff
Stalcup is the director of golf, and Robert King is the superintendent.

  The GAM Net Chapman is
played over 18 holes with two players playing as partners. Each player plays from
the teeing ground and then each plays the partner’s ball for the second shot.
After the second shot, the partners select one ball with which they wish to
score. They play alternately to complete the hole.

  A field of 43 teams
will play. The defending champions, Rich and Rick Rachner, a father-son duo
from Brighton, are in the field, as are the 2016 winners, Roger Chapman and
Stewart Sloan of Rochester.
