Chris MileThis is the time of year we take stock of this past golf season and start planning for the next.? Here are a few things to share with you about last year and our plans for next year.
?
Club-Fitting.? The Cluboratory, our club fitting center, continues to grow.? We are currently looking at ways to make this an even better experience.? One area where we are conducting experiments is the weight of the club.? The results are not in as of yet, but it may be that we need to pay more attention to the weight of the club when we are fitting you.
?
Golf Shop.? As you would expect, lower priced discontinued clubs are in great demand by our customers.? We have made space and are purchasing more of these clubs for next year.? With the addition of TrackMan the Game to our range, there are opportunities for customers to use TrackMan on their own to evaluate these clubs.? We are trying to figure out how this will work.
?
Practice Facility.? We think TrackMan the Game has the potential to radically change our range business.? There are a number of reasons golfers hit practice ball and just having fun is one of those reasons.? Hitting golf balls with TrackMan is REALLY FUN.? Get ready because real soon you will be able to compete in TrackMan the Game Tournaments! ?
?
We had are largest number of Players Clubs ever, nearly 400.? Although we felt our facilities had no difficulty handling this number, we realize we need to monitor it and at some point possibly limit the membership.

Golf Thoughts -?by Sir Walter Simpson
?

Golf is thought of as a thinking person’s game.? Sir Walter has another take.
?
“Excessive golfing dwarfs the intellect.? Nor is this to be wondered at when we consider that the more fatuously vacant the mind is the better for play.? It has been observed that absolute idiots play the steadiest.”?

Times Contest – Where winning is everything.?

?
This Issue’s Contest:? One big reason we have the busiest golf driving range in the State of Michigan is that ours is a 12 month a year operation.? Doug Davis, one of the partners at Miles of Golf and who also runs our range operation, takes great pride in making sure that we always have range balls available for golfers to hit.? How many years has it been since we last closed the range because we ran out of range balls?? If yours is the correct answer, you win a $130 range card.
?
Your clues:
1.?????? Miles of Golf just celebrated its 14th anniversary.
2.?????? We field calls from other ranges all over the country about how we pick up golf balls in the winter.? A partial answer is “You cannot be a whimp.”
3.?????? We stockpile 120,000 balls for the winter.
4.?????? We have 34 tees that are heated and sheltered.
5.?????? Our busiest month on the range is often March.
6.?????? Your answer needs to be between 8 and 14.

?
?
Last Issue’s Contest:? The most prestigious industry award for golf shops is to be considered one of the top 100 golf shops in the country by Golf World.? Your question was how many times has Miles of Golf been considered one of the top 100 golf shops in the country?? The winner of the $130 range card with a guess of 10 years is Jens Kretzschmar.? Jens won on a draw.
