DEBUT EVENT: Cherry Creek Golf Club Hosting First GAM Two-Person Scramble

Shelby Twp. – Cherry Creek Golf Club is hosting 40 teams playing in the first GAM Two-Person Scramble on Wednesday.

The new event joins the GAM Scramble as events designed to serve golfers beyond the elite players in the state. It was originally scheduled for June at TPC Michigan but was postponed due to rainstorms that hampered course conditions. Cherry Creek agreed to come on as a host for the rescheduled tournament.

The event, played in a standard scramble format, will determine gross and net winners and teams can include men and women GAM members. Senior tees will be used for men over 55 and women over 50.

Cherry Creek’s golf course, designed by PGA Tour star and television commentator Lanny Wadkins with Mike Bylen plays from 4,729 yards to 6,833 yards with multiple tee positions and has been voted the “Best Public Course in Detroit” by Hour Magazine readers.

The modern parkland course rolls over gentle terrain through a variety of oak, ash and cherry trees. The facility also includes an award-winning 50-station practice range with multiple target greens as well as two putting greens and three practice greens for putting and chipping work.

Erle Webber is the managing partner at Cherry Creek, Will Hewett the director of golf and Tim Jenkins the superintendent
