OLYMPIC ATHLETES RETURNING TO OTSEGO CLUB

Gaylord, MI ? Otsego Club, which transformed itself into a mini-Olympic Village this winter as it hosted ten international snowboarding teams to train for the Olympics in Vancouver, announces it will host both national and international snowboard teams next week following the Olympic games.

Teams from New Zealand along with the United States are scheduled to return to the Alpine Village and continue training for the upcoming US Snowboarding Open at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, March 16-21.

The athletes will return to the perfect training conditions that they experienced a month ago. The weather has been ideal and continues to be very good as the winter season comes to an end. In addition, Otsego Club has also improved its terrain park with more jumps and increasing the size of the jumps to accommodate the athletes who will be training for both half-pipe and slope-style events.

The teams have made the journey to northern Michigan because of the commitment that the Otsego Club has made in building this world-class 22-foot half-pipe, which is the same sized super-pipe used in the Vancouver Olympics. Only six of these super half-pipes exist.

The Otsego Club members along with the public have a once in a lifetime opportunity as they are invited to come out Monday?s ? Friday?s and not only watch these athletes train, but snowboard right alongside the top snowboarders as they train.

With only a month left in the winter season, there are some very affordable ski packages to take advantage of.

Midweek ski packages at Otsego Club from March 1-14 start at just $49 for one-nights lodging and a daily lift ticket. Prices based on double occupancy. Midweek lift tickets will also cost $25, with the slopes being open from 12 p.m. ? 9 p.m. daily.

For families looking for that last great weekend ski getaway, The Otsego Club ?Test Drive Package? is the way to go. This weekend package, which costs $495 for a family of four, includes two-nights lodging, lift tickets on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, along with two breakfasts.

Imagine you or your kids taking a half-pipe run with the talents of these Olympic athletes, or riding side by side with a member of the New Zealand and United States teams as they prepare for the US Snowboard Open. These athletes have also been spotted giving tips to the kids and showing them some new tricks to try if they have the nerve.
