LAKE ORION – The Youth on Course Michigan Internship Golf Outing, presented in memory of Amy Graham Thursday at Indianwood Golf & Country Club, raised over $20,000.
The proceeds will help create a GAM internship position to work with the GAM Foundation’s Youth on Course program. The Youth on Course Michigan initiative makes golf available to young golfers ages 6-18 for $5 at participating courses across the state.
The late Amy Graham, daughter of former GAM Executive Director David Graham, served as a GAM intern in 2007 and 2010. David Graham was among the 54 golfers who played in the golf outing, which was sponsored by multiple groups and individuals.
Youth on Course in Michigan, administered by the GAM, supports over 6,400 junior golfers in 2021 and they have played more that 13,300 rounds across the state for $5 or less this season. Youth on course benefits both the junior golfer and the participating golf course. Currently 75 Michigan golf courses are involved and for every YOC round played a nominal payment is provided the course for their support of the program.
An auction of special items, including a trip to Ireland from Sullivan Golf Travel, a threesome playing golf with a member in 2022 at Crystal Downs Country Club in Frankfort, a threesome of golf at Pinehurst No. 2, and golf for four at Boyne Highlands Resort raised over $7,000 as part of the event.
