Woodside Golf Course Hosting 6th GAM 14 & Under Match Play Championship

EAST LANSING – Woodside Golf Course is one of a handful of 12-hole golf courses in the country designed to appeal to those who seek a course that takes less time to play, those beginning the game and those who seek a less physically demanding experience.

The Hawk Hollow golf property, a sister course to the popular Eagle Eye, Hawk Hollow and Timber Ridge courses in the area, has proven to be the perfect spot for the GAM 14 & Under Match Play Championships for boys and girls.

The sixth edition of the tournament is Monday and Tuesday.

Woodside, previously a nine-hole facility, added three holes in 2014 designed by Eagle Eye’s architect Chris Lutzke. It stretches over 146 acres along Wood Road featuring hardwoods that frame generous fairways. The 12 Woodside holes can typically be played in less than 3 hours.

A field of 32 boys and 16 girls will play in the tournament, which combines stroke play and match play. After 12 holes of stroke-play qualifying Monday morning, players will be seeded into match-play flights. Players will play three matches against other players of similar ability levels through Tuesday afternoon.

The defending overall champions, Vibhav Alokam of Ypsilanti and Lauren Timpf of Macomb, have aged out of the competition and are not in the field.
