ST. CLAIR, Mich. — Eighty-four of the best female amateur golfers in Michigan will compete in the 94th Annual Michigan Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament held this year from Monday, July 26 through Friday, July 30 at the St. Clair River Country Club in St. Clair.
The tournament is sponsored annually by the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM).
Players of all ages will compete to become the Women’s Amateur Champion. Last year’s championship saw Britney Hamilton defeat the 2009 Women’s Player of the Year, Christine Meier and Michigan State University standout, Natalie Brehm in the final two rounds.
“We are excited to have players of this caliber come to St. Clair to play. I expect the competition to be very enjoyable for people to come out and see,” said Scott Rich, head golf professional at the St. Clair River Country Club.
The historic, Donald Ross-designed course, with the addition of several new holes designed by Jerry Matthews in recent years, will provide a good test for all players in the field.
