Warwick Hills CC AJGA Tournament Results

GRAND BLANC, Mich. — Henry Do of Ypsilanti, Mich., shot a 1-over-par 73 to secure his victory in just his second AJGA Open event. Paveenuch Sritragul of Bangkok, Thailand shot a 3-over-par 75 to finish the tournament with a 6-over-par 222, capturing her first AJGA Open title. Sritragul is a Junior All-Star champion, having won the Junior All-Star at Spring Creek last August.

Conducted by the American Junior Golf Association, the Randy Wise Junior Open was held at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club in Grand Blanc, Mich. The field featured 75 boys and 24 girls, ages 12-18, from 11 states, Indonesia, Thailand and Canada. The par-72 course played at 7,106 yards for the Boys Division and 6,038 yards for the Girls Division.
Do equaled his efforts from the first round shooting a 1-over-par 73. He was able to capitalize on the strength of his short game throughout the round.
“The turning point for me came on No. 15. I hit my approach shot over the green and was almost out of bounds. I got up and down, which was difficult; it was a definite momentum changer. I felt like I was going to finish well after that.”
Jake McBride of Hartville, Ohio, shot a low final-round score of 5-under-par 67 to land in second with a tournament total of even-par 216. Haoyuan Lu of Bradenton, Fla., and Austin Romeo of Erie, Pa., were at 1-over-par 217 to earn third. In fifth was Beau Titsworth of Avon, Ohio, who shot a 3-over-par 219.

Sritragul, playing in her first AJGA Open event, concentrated down the stretch, getting an even-par back-nine score, to secure her victory with a one shot advantage.
“I felt like my turning point of the round came on No. 17. Ashley [Armstrong] and I were back and forth for a lot of the round and on that hole I was able to birdie and she bogeyed, so I felt more confident coming into No. 18.”
Ashley Armstrong of Flossmoor, Ill., finished one shot back of the lead with a 7-over-par 223 after carding a 1-over-par final-round 73. Lauren Grogan of Columbus, Ohio, Christine Meier of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Lauren English of Bloomington, Ill., tied for third with tournament totals of 228.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA provides valuable exposure for college golf scholarships, and has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 countries. To ensure scholarship opportunities for all junior golfers who have the skill, the AJGA created the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program to provide financial assistance to young players in need.

Titleist, the AJGA’s National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association’s success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA’s second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. Former AJGA juniors have compiled more than 400 victories on the PGA and LPGA Tours. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Cristie Kerr, Paula Creamer and Morgan Pressel.
