McDONALDS TEES UP GOLF DISCOUNTS
Program aims to grow sport, tourism in Michigan
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 27, 2008 Michigan McDonalds restaurants will be kicking off the start of Michigans busy travel season again this year by inviting customers across the state to play golf at some of the states most acclaimed courses. The program will be expanding to cover a wider variety of geographic locations.
Through Tee-Up Two-for-One, Michigan McDonalds restaurants partner with the Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) to offer complimentary two-for-one golf vouchers to customers who visit participating restaurants throughout Michigan.
Thirty-four of the states finest courses, including the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall and the Moor Course at Boyne Highlands, are participating in the voucher program that offers two 18-hole rounds for the price of one. Vouchers, which carry a value of up to $100, will be available beginning Monday, June 2 at more than 300 Michigan McDonalds restaurants for play between June 2 and July 5, 2007.
The thousands of travelers who visited our restaurants last year loved the program, said Tom Holka Jr., a Kalkaska-area McDonalds owner/operator. It was such a natural fit for McDonalds to partner with GAM again to promote Michigan tourism.
In 2007, Golf Digest selected Michigan as the 12th best golf destination in the world. Grand Blanc will also host this years Buick Open on June 23 through June 29.
With Michigan being such a great destination place for golf, the voucher is intended to get more people involved in all of our wonderful golf opportunities, said David Graham, executive director of GAM. Im excited to see golfers given an incentive to try some of best courses that Michigan has to offer.
Michigan is home to more than 500,000 avid golfers as well as 800-plus public courses, many of which are championship and world-class golf resort facilities that attract travelers from near and far.
