At Boyne Resorts today, Tom Werkmeister, Kentwood, captured the 26th GAM Mid-Amateur Championship carding an even par 70 on the Ross Memorial to combine with yesterday?s four under par 68 on the Hills course. Werkmeister, playing with Ian Harris and Eric Spencer, his two closest competitors, needed a par on hole #18 to win. His first putt of 40 feet came to rest two feet from the hole. ?I don?t know what would have happened if I?d left myself a five footer,? said Werkmeister. This is Werkmeister?s first GAM Mid Amateur, and according to him, he thinks, ?he?ll come back again next year.?
