GAM Mourns Passing of Thomas Chisholm

FARMINGTON HILLS – The Golf Association of Michigan family is mourning the passing of Thomas Chisholm of Bloomfield Hills. Chisholm was a President Emeritus of the GAM (1989-90) and gave many years of volunteer service to the organization. He also served on the USGA’s Executive, Museum & Library, Public Links Championship and Green Section committees and has worked as a rules official for The Masters tournament at Augusta National.  For his service to the game of golf and his efforts to mesh golf and the environment, he was elected to the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.

Chisholm worked closely with the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America to promote the idea that golf courses can work with the environment and do not jeopardize it.  He contributed to research funding for turfgrass at the Michigan Turfgrass Foundation and Michigan State University.

Chisholm was the retired Vice President of Eaton Corporation.  He was a member at Bloomfield Hills CC and Orchard Lake CC.

Visitation will be at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14-15 Mile Roads) Thursday 4-8 p.m. with a service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Church, 630 Harmon St., Birmingham, Friday at 11 a.m.
