2011 USGA Women’s State Team Selected

The GAM has selected the 2011 USGA Women’s State Team! Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll, Natalie Brehm and Kim Kester will represent Michigan when they travel to The Landings Club in Savannah, GA Oct. 4-6 for the competition.

Slobodnik-Stoll (Haslett) is a six-time champion at the GAM Women’s Mid-Amateur and is the head women’s golf coach at Michigan State University. Kester (Ada) was this year’s Mid-Amateur champion. Brehm (Mount Pleasant) was the 2010 Michigan Women’s Amateur Champion, the 2010 GAM Women’s Champion and the lowest female scorer at the Michigan PGA Tournament of Champions this year.

The 2011 State Team Championship will be played on the Palmetto Course at The Landings Club.  

The Championship began as a special event of the celebration of the USGA’s Centennial in 1995.  It was such a popular event that it has been conducted every two years since. This year’s championship will be the 9th in the series. It is a 54 hole stroke play event. The team score is made up of the best two out of the three individual 18 hole scores.
