Far Hills, N.J. – The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced that the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces will be recognized at the 2012 U.S. Senior Open at Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion, Mich. On Wednesday, July 11, the USGA is extending free admission to all active duty, retired and Reserve military personnel, while U.S. Army Detroit Arsenal associates will be eligible for a special ticket offer for the championship rounds, July 12-15. The 448-yard 16th hole at Indianwood Golf and Country Club will be designated a “military hole” during Wednesday’s practice round, and the flagstick will fly the Stars and Stripes. When the players reach the putting surface, a caddie will deliver the flagstick to a local soldier stationed at the green. He or she will keep the flag off the ground until a caddie replaces the flagstick when the group leaves the green.
In addition to offering free admission for all military service personnel on July 11, the USGA and Indianwood Golf and Country Club have extended a special ticket package for any day of the championship to all U.S. Army Detroit Arsenal associates.
