September 13, 2012. On the 20th hole on Sunday, September 9 at Tyrone Hills Golf Club in Fenton, MI, Tina Callewaert of Chesterfield defeated runner-up Mary Warnick of Sterling Heights to win the 2012 Michigan Women’s Golf Association Match Play League Championship. Callewaert gradually picked up holes during the match, starting the back nine 4 up, but then Warnick rallied until they came off the 18th hole all square. The women played another two holes before Callewaert one-putted to win the match. It was exciting championship play to end the 2012 MWGA Match Play League season.
Callewaert won in Division B, after five matches, to advance to the playoffs. Matches were played at a variety of courses throughout southeastern Michigan, most on scheduled league dates. However, if members could not make those dates, opponents could schedule individual matches at USGA-rated courses of their choice. Other 2012 MWGA Match Play League division winners were:
