Bloomfield Hills, Mich. (May 19, 2008) – For those who enjoy golf, its rich history and the stories behind some of its greatest moments, The PGA Championship History Exhibit Presented by The Royal Bank of Scotland, opens May 23-July 30 at Cranbrook Institute of Science. This popular and historical exhibit offers an unprecedented opportunity to get an in-depth look at one of the sport’s major tournaments.

Those wishing to get even closer to the action are encouraged to book a corporate event now at the Institute and host their gathering amidst this fascinating exhibit. It’s a wonderful opportunity to entertain customers and clients or to recognize your employees.

“Cranbrook Institute of Science is proud to be a part of the excitement of the 90th PGA Championship by serving as the host site for this spectacular exhibit,” says Institute Director Dr. Michael Stafford. “We know public interest will be very strong, and we’re excited that his exhibit makes the museum the ultimate rental venue for the golf enthusiast.”

The PGA Championship History Exhibit combines both golf artifacts and memorabilia that reveal the history and tradition of the PGA Championship and its past 89 champions. The exhibit features acclaimed memorabilia such as Jack Nicklaus’ putter after capturing the 1980 PGA Championship, Phil Mickelson’s wedge that clinched his victory on the 18th hole in 2005, a straw hat worn by Sam Snead and the legendary Walter Hagen’s walking stick. Following its run at Cranbrook Institute of Science, a portion of the exhibit will move to Oakland Hills Country Club for the duration of the 90th PGA Championship.

With a T. rex skeleton cast, a life-size mastodon, a planetarium, observatory and a series of hands-on exhibits, Cranbrook Institute of Science provides a one-of-a-kind environment for any gathering up to 800 people. Founded in 1930, the Institute is Michigan’s premiere natural history museum. The 200-seat auditorium features state-of-the art audio/visual technology, perfect for business meetings and gatherings. The expansive exhibit halls provide dramatic settings for dinners and receptions.
