REDFORD, Michigan – If you only go to one charity golf outing this year, make it the 2nd annual Stars & Stripes Open July 9 at Western Golf & Country Club.
The Stars & Stripes Open is a major initiative to support Major Dan Rooney, founder of the Folds of Honor and Patriot Day Golf. Major Rooney has done a marvelous job raising money for scholarships for the children and spouses of American servicemen who have fallen in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It is an honor and privilege for the tournament organizers to support such a worthy cause. Those who attended the inaugural event at Western in 2011 came away with the same feelings – that they were privileged to be a part of such a worthwhile golf outing.
The charity outing features 18 holes on the Donald Ross designed Western Golf & Country Club, a course conceived and built during the Golden Era of course architecture in America. It is a masterpiece in our midst, as pure a Ross design as there is left anywhere.
The $125 entry per person ($500/foursome) includes lunch, golf, a dinner buffet, unique prizes, gifts, multiple hole-in-one contests, and a silent auction that was one of the many highlights of last year’s events. The silent auction provides an opportunity to bid on and win golf foursomes on some of Michigan’s finest private, resort and public courses and a wide range of golf equipment provided by major manufacturers and Detroit-based sports memorabilia.
Sponsorship levels are available at many levels, from $1,000 to $10,000.
