Certified Golf Course
Superintendent John R. Fulling Jr., director of golf course management at
Kalamazoo (Mich.) Country Club, was elected to the board of directors of the
Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) at the association’s
annual meeting last month in San Diego, Calif.
The annual meeting was held
in conjunction with the GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show, the
world’s largest education conference and trade show in the golf course
management industry.
Fulling has served as the
superintendent at Kalamazoo (Mich.) Country Club since 1993. Previously, he
served as superintendent at Berrien Hills Country Club in Benton Harbor, Mich.,
and as a course superintendent at Medinah (Ill.) Country Club. He has a
turfgrass management degree from Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill., and
previously studied music performance at Northern Illinois University in
DeKalb.
A GCSAA member for 23 years,
Fulling has served on numerous GCSAA committees, including the Chapter Relations
and Nominating committees and, most recently, the Strategic Communications
Committee. He has also previously served on the Board Policy Oversight Task
Group. Fulling is a member and past president of the Michigan GCSA and is also a
past president of the Western Michigan GCSA. He is former president of the
Michigan Turfgrass Foundation and currently serves as a committee member for the
Michigan Golf Alliance.
Fulling, his wife, Susan,
and their two children, Ali and Emily, reside in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Patrick R. Finlen, CGCS
director of golf at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., was elected
president; Keith A. Ihms, CGCS at Country Club of Little Rock (Ark.) was elected
vice president; and John J. O’Keefe, CGCS, director of golf course management at
Preakness Hills Country Club in Wayne, N.J., was elected
secretary/treasurer.
