Jackson native and Oakland University alum Brian Stuard has
been one of the PGA TOUR’s most surprising starters early in the 2013-14
season.
After earning a career-best $1,032,028 on the course for the
2013 season, Stuard has already bettered that mark with $1,213,823 earned in
only seven tournaments for the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season. In addition, Stuard’s
three top-10 finishes and six cuts made put him eighth on the current FedEx Cup
Standings and 10th place on the United States Ryder Cup Standings.
Stuard opened the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season with a tie for
58th place at the Frys.com Open and a tie for 15th at the Shriners Hospital for
Children Open. After missing the cut at the McGladrey Classic, Stuard went on
to rattle off three consecutive top-10 finishes with a second-place finish at
the OHL Classic at Mayakoba, a sixth-place finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii,
and a fifth-place finish at the Humana Challenge. His top-10 streak ended this
past weekend with a tie for 28th at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Justin Hicks, a Wyandotte native and University of Michigan
alum, has also gotten off to a solid start for the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season.
Hicks has made six cuts in seven tournaments played, and his best finish is a
tie for sixth at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba. He has earned $336,509 thus far
for the season and sits in 45th place in the FedEx Cup Standings.
