The City of Birmingham, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking
qualified applicants, without regard to race or other protected status, for the
Grounds Superintendent position. Under the general direction of the Golf
Manager, plans and supervises the activities of employees in the maintenance and
greenskeeping of City-owned golf courses. Works in daily coordination with
the Golf Manager to syncronize clubhouse and greenskeeping activities.
Formulates, recommends, and implements approved action plans for
problem areas and for general maintenance. Participates in planning for long
-term improvements and changes. Assists in preparation and monitoring of
budget for maintenance related activities. Performs related duties as
assigned.
Requirements:
?? Associate’s Degree, or its equivalent, supplemented by formal training in
the principles and practices of golf course management.
?? Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in golf course
maintenance. Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead employees.
?? Knowledge and experience in agronomy and turfgrass management.
Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations affecting
golf course operations. Thorough knowledge of the game of golf.
GCSAA member with certification preferred.
?? Knowledge of current office software
systems, including MS Office Suite and
current communications software.
?? Possession of, or ability to obtain,
Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License
from the State of Michigan.
Hours and Wages
?? Salary range of $47,398 – $60,670.
