June 12, 2014, Farmington, MIch. The Michigan Women’s Golf Association (MWGA) will hold its President’s Stroke Play competition at Fox Creek GC in Livonia, Mich. on Saturday, June 21. Play will begin with a 1pm shotgun start from the forward tees with a course rating of 70.6, slope 120 and yards 5197. The competition is open to amateur players. On Saturday, July 12, MWGA will return to Selfridge GC on the Selfridge Air Nat’l Guard Base in Harrison Twp. for a 2-Woman Four-Ball competition. To enter Selfridge Air Nat’l Guard Base a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
Play will begin with an 11am shotgun start from the forward tees with a course rating of 68.3, slope 117 and yards 4957. The competition is open to amateur players. A current USGA Index is required; if not available, golfers will play at scratch or as determined by the MWGA Handicap Director. Each team member will play her own ball. The lower of the two players’ gross and net scores on each hole will recorded as the team’s scores.
At the end of the competition, prizes will be awarded to the lowest gross and net team scores in each handicap division. After golf, while winners are being determined, players may enjoy a 50/50 raffle as well as a buffet that will be available for $15.
The fee for golf, cart, range and awards is $63 member, $83 non-member. An additional, optional fee of $10 per person is required in advance for contests such as closest to the flagstick and chip-ins. Registration may be made online at www.mwgolf.org.
