NAPLES, FL – Toledo junior Otto Black (67-68-74=209, -4) tied for fifth place at four-under par 209 at the Talis Park Challenge on Monday, making the Rockets one of only two teams to have multiple players in the Top Five.
Toledo Senior Chris Selfridge captured medalist honors and Toledo finished in 11th place at the Talis Park Challenge on Monday. The second-annual tourney was held at the par-71, 6,893 yard Talis Park Golf Club.
Selfridge (73-67-67=207, -6) fired a career-tying best four-under par 67 in each of the final two rounds to post a collegiate-low score of six-under par 208 and finished one stroke ahead of Vanderbilt’s Hunter Stewart (69-71-68=208, -5); Xavier’s Korey Ward (67-75-66=208, -5) and Texas A&M’s Adria Arnaus (66-69-73=208, -5) for the top spot.
The Castledawson, Northern Ireland native recorded four birdies and one eagle in today’s final round to secure medalist honors for the second time in his UT career and first since the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 22-23, 2012.
Also competing for the Rockets were freshman Stephen Watts (73-71-75=219), freshman Colin Joseph (82-80-78=240) and senior Mike Lancaster (86-79-87=252), who tied for 34th place, tied for 76th place and stood alone in 78th, respectively.
No. 13 LSU (286-276-276) won the 15-team tourney at 14-under par 838, edging out defending champion No. 5 Vanderbilt (276-284-282) at 10-under par 842.
The Rockets will return to the links on Saturday-Sunday, April 11-12 when they participate in the NYX Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, IN.
