DETROIT — The Wayne State University men’s golf team has made two roster additions for the 2015-16 season. Head coach Mike Hornannounced the signing of Jesse Hogan (Kingston, Ont.) and Garrett Freismuth (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North).

“Both guys give us experience which we desperately need,” said Horn. “They will be challenged by our current roster and incoming class. This is the most talented group we have ever brought in during my time at WSU. Now they have to work hard and earn it. Nothing comes easy, especially success!”

Jesse Hogan  |  Kingston, Ontario / Regiopolis – Notre Dame Catholic S.S. (West Texas A&M)

2014-2015 (West Texas A&M):
Played 11 rounds over four events during the fall … tallied a stroke average of 76.18 with a low round of 71 … tied-for-45th at the Northeastern State Classic with a 232 (82, 75, 75) … carded a 231 (73, 80, 78) at the Western New Mexico Intercollegiate to tie for 68th … best finish came at the Territory Classic hosted by Cameron University with a 153 (78, 75) to tie for 25th … finished the fall with a 222 (71, 76, 75) at the Midwestern State Invitational to tie for 29th.

Coach Horn’s Thoughts: “Jesse is a kid that we looked at out of high school. He ended up at West Texas A&M and the moving closer to home should help him. He has a lot of talent and experience from his first year of college that should prove valuable as he transitions to WSU. I look forward to him contributing right away as a Warrior.”

Garrett Freismuth  |  Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. / Grosse Pointe North (Wayne County Community College)

2014-15 (Wayne County CC):

Coach Horn’s Thoughts:  “Garrett will be a contributor right away. He went to the JC Nationals as an individual and played really well. I hope having a team around him helps him get to the next level even faster. He hits it straight and is good on the green. He is looking for a chance and he will certainly get it here!”
