FLOSSMOOR, Ill. (9/21/2015) — Just a few strokes kept the University of Detroit Mercy women’s golf team out of the top five as the Titans finished up play at the Loyola Fall Invitational, held at the Par 73, 6,132-yard Flossmoor Country Club.

Detroit claimed sixth in the field with a 973 (324-326-323), ahead of the two other Horizon League schools in the field in Green Bay and UIC. UDM was just four shots shy of the top five and seven behind a fourth-place finish. The 973 was also the 10th best 54-hole total in school history, 

Junior Sarah Thompson led the Titans from beginning to end in tying for third with a career-low 230 (78-77-75). She lowered her score in each round, ending the event with a 2-over 75 on the final 18.

Junior Sarah Montone shot her best round of the tournament with a 79 on Tuesday, which helped her post a career-best 247 (82-86-79) for 31st, while junior Alexandra LeBlanc set a new 54-hole best with a 250 (79-85-86) for a share of 33rd.
