ANN ARBOR – The Polo
Fields Golf & Country Club Ann Arbor is a popular host for Golf Association
of Michigan championships, and the 6th GAM Net Match Play Championship
presented by Michigan Golf Live is a popular tournament.
It’s a great pairing
Monday through Wednesday as the modern links style golf course hosts 82 male
golfers with handicap index of 20.4 or lower in net match play competition.
A Monday morning
round of 18 holes of stroke play will determine the 32 low net scorers who move
on to match play in the afternoon. A round of 16 and 8 will be played Tuesday
and semifinals and finals are on Wednesday.
Three past
champions return including defending champion Jack McHale, 2014 champion Mike
Hayes and 2013 champion Michael Piazza.
The Polo Fields Ann Arbor, which last summer
hosted the 25th GAM Women’s Championship, was designed by William Newcomb and
opened in 1995. It is a private golf club with generous fairways, but fast
challenging greens.
Steve Berger is
the manager for owner Stanley J. Berger, and the superintendent is Mark
McKinley. The course plays to a maximum of 6,752 yards and has eight sets of
tee positions up to 5,041 yards. Visit polofielssccmi.com for more information.
