COURSE OF THE WEEK: The Quest Golf Club, a Championship Course at Neighborhood Rates

Conveniently located just minutes away from US-127, off the M-55 Houghton Lake exit, The Quest Golf Club has matured into the hidden treasure you have been seeking since you began playing golf. It is the only championship course in Roscommon county and is known for its neighborhood rates.

Built in 1994, The Quest Golf Club was designed by PGA Tour Professional Ken Green. It is a beautiful 18-hole golf course built on generous rolling terrain. Throughout the course you will find magnificent views of Houghton Lake as well.

The front nine of the course is more open, but contains plenty of fairway bunkers and mounds. The back nine is lined with trees, making accuracy a key. When combined, the course makes for a very playable yet challenging course. There are shots here that will challenge your game as much as they challenge your sense of adventure.

Each hole features five sets of tees so you can play to your ability. With yardages ranging from 4,936 up to 6,765, the course is manageable for players of all handicaps. The full tee information is:

One of the favorite holes on the course by golfers is the 371-yard par four 9th. It has one of the longest bunkers in Michigan, starting 160 yards from the green in the right rough then cutting across the center of the fairway at 100 yards from the green and continuing all the way up the left side of the fairway to the green.

In addition to a championship course, The Quest has an extensive practice facility including a full grass driving range, two practice putting greens, and a practice sand bunker and chipping area so you can perfect all aspects of your game.

The course has been given 4 Stars by Golf Digest Magazine. It was also rated a “Top 10 Public Course in Michigan” by the Detroit News and was a 2014 Readers’ Choice #1 Golf Course in Roscommon County.
