If you know someone who might enjoy a job in golf, encourage them to reach out to the right person at your golf course. With the hospitality and golf course maintenance industries facing challenges in finding and retaining skilled staff, a simple referral can go a long way.
Getting a job at the golf course can also open career opportunities for staff. One example is the Registered Apprenticeship Program for golf course maintenance sponsored by the Michigan Golf Course Association. Apprentices earn a U.S. Department of Labor-accredited certificate in golf course maintenance through on-the-job training, 40 hours of online coursework, and certification for pesticide applications in the State of Michigan. As apprentices grow from golf course workers to team leaders, they fill critical roles in maintaining excellent golf courses.
