The Golf Association of Michigan collects information in several ways from different parts of our web site. Some personal information is gathered when you register, including your name, email address, and zip code. The more information you volunteer, and the more accurate the information is, the better Golf Association of Michigan will be able to customize your membership experience. Once you register, you are no longer anonymous to the Golf Association of Michigan. You are given a Golf Association of Michigan ID and are able to take full advantage of Golf Association of Michigan’s many offerings. In addition to registration, we may ask you for personal information in other areas of the web site. This includes when you make a purchase from our web site, and when you report a problem with our web site services or merchandise. When you contact Golf Association of Michigan, we may keep a record of that correspondence. The Golf Association of Michigan may occasionally ask Members to complete surveys for research purposes.

Wherever the Golf Association of Michigan collects personal information, we make an effort to include a link to our Privacy Policy.

The Golf Association of Michigan’s primary goal in collecting personal information is to know a little about you and your membership as a whole so that we can deliver products and services that are better suited to meet your needs.

Additionally, for purchases made through our website, The Golf Association of Michigan may use the information you provided us to fulfill and ship your order. This information will include, but not be limited to, your shipping address, email address and phone number and may be shared with 3rd party carriers to communicate tracking and complete the delivery of your order.

Your membership information is collected and secured by gam.org and is not shared with outside parties, with the exception of certain circumstances outlined below.

Golf Association of Michigan will not disclose any of your personal information except under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it and for administrative and other purposes necessary to maintain, service, and improve our products and services.

Under confidentiality agreements, Golf Association of Michigan may match user information with third party data. Also, Golf Association of Michigan discloses aggregated user statistics (for example, 45% of our users are female) in order to describe our services to prospective partners, advertisers, and other third parties, and for other lawful purposes.

Golf Association of Michigan may also disclose account information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) Golf Association of Michigan’s rights or property, other Golf Association of Michigan Members, or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities.

We may occasionally send you direct mail or email about products and services that we feel may be of interest to you. Only Golf Association of Michigan (or agents working on behalf of Golf Association of Michigan and under confidentiality agreements) will send you these direct mailings.

You may edit your information with us at any time by using your Golf Association of Michigan ID and password in the Membership section. Please contact our Member Service Department for further instructions about deleting or deactivating your Golf Association of Michigan account.

Your Golf Association of Michigan account information is password-protected so that only you have access to this personal information. You may edit your Golf Association of Michigan information in the Membership section by using your Golf Association of Michigan ID and password. We recommend that you do not divulge your password to anyone. Golf Association of Michigan will not ask you for your password in an unsolicited phone call or email. Also, remember to sign out of your Golf Association of Michigan account and close your browser window when you leave the site. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are online.

For children under the age of 13, the GAM requires a guardian to register them for memberships and services such as Youth on Course and a GHIN Handicap Index.

Questions regarding collection and use of data associated with minors and guardians should be directed to:

Laura Bavaird, Director, GAM Foundation
[email protected]

Chris Whitten, Executive Director, GAM
[email protected]

In registering children under 13 years of age, the GAM collects a guardian’s email address and gives the guardian the option of providing a home address. This is only used to deliver products or services from the GAM or in very limited cases, third party partners such as Golf Digest Magazine as a member benefit.

Guardians can view, edit and delete the information the GAM maintains about minors by logging into the minor’s GAM membership account or by calling the GAM.
