The GAM is authorized by the United States Golf Association (USGA®) to measure and rate golf courses in the state of Michigan in accordance with the Course Rating System™. Golf courses are measured using laser technology to ensure accuracy. Course obstacles are assessed relative to Course Rating System standards to produce Course Ratings & Slope Ratings.

The GAM provides access to the World Handicap System™ service for its member clubs as well as course rating services and World Handicap System™ certification. GAM member clubs can also host GAM events including tournaments and GAM Golf Days and are privy to various discounts on goods and services.
