St. Clair Golf Club Hosting 35th GAM Women’s Championship

  1. CLAIR – Historic St. Clair Golf Club will host the state’s top women golfers in the 35th GAM Women’s Championship presented by Carl’s Golfland Monday and Tuesday, June 15-16.

The field will play 36-holes of stroke play over two days to determine a champion.

St. Clair was founded in 1917 with an original nine holes, but legend Donald Ross did a full makeover design in 1923. In 1994 Michigan architect Jerry Matthews redesigned five holes and created some additional elements to allow land-planning for homesites nearby. Hole numbers were changed and the front and back nines reversed.

St. Clair has been a standout partner and member club of the Golf Association of Michigan having hosted the 2010 Michigan Women’s Amateur, 2014 Michigan Women’s Senior Amateur and the GAM Women’s Championship in 2017, as well as other tournaments.

The course plays to a maximum of 6821 yards with seven possible tee positions. It is a full-service private golf club. Justin Fuhrman is the head golf professional, and Bob Badovinac is the superintendent.

The 2025 GAM Women’s Player of the Year, Elayna Bowser of Dearborn, heads the field. Other top players include Elise Fennell of Kentwood and Central Michigan University (verbally committed), Kate Brody of Grand Blanc and the University of Wisconsin, Mia Melendez of Ann Arbor and Howard University, Chelsea Collura of Wyandotte, and Lillian O’Grady of Grand Rapids.
