In early August of 2003, Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath opened for play. Eagle Eye is the sister course to Hawk Hollow, which opened up a few years prior. Eagle Eye very quickly became one of Mid-Michigan’s top golf destinations. Conveniently located near Lansing, and about an hour and a half drive from those in the Detroit area, Eagle Eye is well worth the trip.
In collaboration with Pete Dye, Chris Lutzke designed Eagle Eye to be a rolling “links” style championship course. The layout of the course is eye-popping with some uniquely designed holes, including some difficult par 3s. Fescue mounding along the fairways and behind many of the greens complexes provide an old Scottish course feel along this beautiful layout, which also features considerable sand waste areas and bunkering, plus water hazards that are in play on 13 holes.
The most well-known hole on the course at Eagle Eye is the Par 3 17th. From the Championship tees it is a 146-yard hole that replicates the design of the famous island green at TPC Sawgrass. Even with a large green and a greenside bunker to catch wayward rolls, it is easy to be spooked by all the water.
Eagle Eye provides a challenge from any of the tee boxes. Distances, ratings and slopes at Eagle Eye are:

In 2017, Golf Advisor raters ranked Eagle Eye No. 5 in the nation. In 2014, Golf Digest magazine rated Eagle Eye’s 18 holes as the fifth best public golf course in Michigan. Eagle Eye was also rated the 27th best public course in the nation and 4th best in Michigan by GolfWorld subscribers in 2009.
Eagle Eye offers complete practice facilities on the grounds of the course. The facilities feature two full size practice ranges, a large undulating practice putting green, and a special short game practice area which includes a large sand bunker and room for 40-yard approach shot practice to a challenging green complex. Hawk Hollow Golf Academy is also part of the practice offering.
Eagle Eye features a full-service Pro Shop that stocks apparel from Nike, Adidas, Ashworth, Antigua, Callaway, Greg Norman, Gear, Foot-Joy, and Under Armour. If you can’t find what you are looking for, the club has accounts with all major vendors and their experienced staff can assist you with your special order.
Eagle Eye also specializes in club fittings and they offer a full range of selections. Their policy is to match the prices you would get at the local discounters, while allowing you the full service you expect at Hawk Hollow. They offer Callaway, Cleveland, Bridgestone, Nike, TaylorMade, and Titleist. As with apparel, you have the flexibility to order clubs from any major manufacturer and Hawk Hollow will special order your clubs and provide follow-up service to ensure your complete satisfaction.
The grill at Eagle Eye serves fresh food made to order. A complete beverage selection awaits golfers before, during, and after their round. Relax and watch the game on one of their big screen televisions with comfortable seating inside. Or you can enjoy the view on the veranda overlooking the lake and the ninth and eighteenth holes.
