Boyne Mountain Announces Lineup of Concerts and Comedians

Boyne Falls, Mich., (June 28, 2007) -Boyne Mountain, a four-season resort located in Boyne Falls, Michigan is pleased to announce the lineup of concerts as part of the resorts’ 2007 Music on the Mountain concert series as well as fabulous new comedic appearances. In addition to hosting Grammy award winner Randy Travis, the resort is pleased to welcome the Gin Blossoms, Allman Brothers Band, 2nd Annual Boyne Mountain Bluegrass Festival, nationally acclaimed comedian, Ted Alexandro, and 2005 Last Comic Standing winner, Alonzo Bodden.

Randy Travis is performing live at Boyne Mountain with his “Round the Bend Tour” on Sunday, July 22. The show begins at 8 PM. All tickets are general admission and cost $39.75 or $31.50 for seniors (65+); children ages 10 and under are free. The Gin Blossoms are performing live on Saturday, August 11. The group is heating up the highway with a cross country tour through 100 cities in 40 states! Gin Blossoms fans can expect to hear a preview of brand new songs and band favorites alike. The Gin Blossoms’ new album “Major Lodge Victory,” released in August of 2006, has received rave reviews from fans and the media. USA Today wrote, “If you miss the sweet, simple pleasures of early-90’s guitar-pop, the non-grungy variety, this collection of honeyed rockers from the reunited Blossoms is just the ticket to ride.” General admission tickets are $36 and go on sale Thursday, July 5 at 10 AM. The Allman Brothers Band is performing live on Saturday, August 25. The Allman Brothers Band have a 38-year tradition of blending the new and the old… playing songs that stir souls because they bring back so many great memories and casting classic tunes into new light. The group is known for hits like “Midnight Rider,” “Whipping Post,” “Melissa” and “Revival,” among many others. The concert starts at 6 PM and features Robert Randolph & The Family Band and Larry McCray as the opening acts. General admission tickets are $36. Next in the line up is the 2nd Annual Boyne Mountain Bluegrass Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 1. With the David Grisman Quintet headlining a full day of music, this is a show not to be missed. Bluegrass fans can break out their instruments and prepare to dance all day to the sounds of Cow Cow Boogie, Packway Handle, Ruby Jane Smith, Lonesome County Band, Greensky Bluegrass and of course, the David Grisman Quintet! What a day it will be with fabulous bluegrass music, unique vendors, kids’ entertainment, food, drinks and plenty of solo jamming!

General admission tickets are $37 or $29 for seniors (65+); children ages 10 and under are free. Festival goers are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs to enjoy the music. Scenic chairlift rides are available during the festival for a nominal charge. The venue opens at 11 AM with music starting at 12:30 PM.

All concerts are held outdoors and utilize the mountain as natural stadium seating. Seating is chosen on a first come, first serve basis so be sure to arrive early! Enjoy food and beverage concessions serving up grilled burgers, brats and chicken sandwiches as well as beer, wine, water and soft drinks. All persons consuming alcohol must be at least 21 years of age and have proper photo identification.

Parking is $10 per vehicle or $20 per R.V; car pooling is encouraged. Handicap accessible parking and areas in the concert venue are available. “Will Call” and “Box Office” tickets can be picked up the day of the concerts from 1 PM to 10 PM at the Boyne Mountain lift ticket window located in the Village. A new kind of entertainment is making its way to Boyne Mountain – comedy acts! Nationally acclaimed comedian, Ted Alexandro, is performing two shows in the Civic Center at Boyne Mountain the evenings of Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8. Both shows start at 8:30 PM and tickets are only $15 (must be at least 18 years of age). Alexandro combines hilarious observations with hysterical physical comedy in a laid back style that offers something for everyone! Uproar magazine said, “With an appeal similar to Ray Romano and Jerry Seinfeld, Ted Alexandro may very well become New York’s next big hit!”

In addition to Alexandro’s half-hour special, Comedy Central Presents Ted Alexandro, he has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborne, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The View. Alonzo Bodden, the 2005 winner of NBC’s Emmy nominated series Last Comic Standing, is set to appear at Boyne Mountain on Sunday, September 23! Bodden has appeared on the Girls Next Door, several Comedy Central specials and Late Night with Conan O’Brien, as well as in the movie Bringing Down the House. Bodden’s humor is described as “cynically good-natured” – explaining his broad appeal. He draws upon his personal experiences being raised in the “middle-class hood” and finds humor in the commonality of life experiences.
