Jack Seufert of Grand Rapids, MI selected as 2019 PEAK Performers Contest Winner

Local teen joins golf icon Sir Nick Faldo for the CoBank-sponsored academic program this August

(June 28, 2019) -Today, The First Tee® announced that Jack Seufert of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is one of nine teens selected in its second annual CoBank PEAK Performers contest, a leadership and golf performance program for elite teens from across the United States. Seufert, 16, will take part in a four-day, all-expenses-paid golf academy in August hosted by Sir Nick Faldo, World Golf Hall of Fame member and broadcaster, at the Terranea Resort and Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Sponsored by Denver-based CoBank, the PEAK Performers contest received applications from more than 30,000 participants from The First Tee chapters nationwide. Jack underwent a rigorous, competitive screening process by a designated panel of judges. He is one of nine winners selected based on his leadership and academic experiences, golf acumen and essay detailing the personal and professional impact of The First Tee of West Michigan program.

“We’re thrilled to have Jack representing our local chapter of The First Tee,” said Tyler Smies, executive director of The First Tee of West Michigan. “Jack has been given a fantastic opportunity to be mentored by Faldo, a golf legend with six Major championships and more than 40 tournament victories, and grow, not only as a golfer, but as a young leader in the community.”

“CoBank applauds Jack and the other exceptional young people selected for the second annual PEAK Performers program,” said Arthur Hodges, senior vice president of corporate communications for CoBank. “Without a doubt, Jack will embody the core values The First Tee seeks to inspire in its participants. We look forward to providing him with an experience he will never forget with Nick Faldo, one of golf’s all-time greats.”

Beginning on Wednesday, August 21, Jack will travel to Terranea Resort and Trump National Golf Club for a four-day/three-night trip. In addition to golf sessions with Faldo and tours of Los Angeles-area landmarks, he will learn how to apply The First Tee’s Nine Core Values through extensive leadership development, career exploration, and camaraderie with his fellow winners from around the country.
